NICHOLAS COLBERT

Since joining MANICA Architecture, Nick has had the opportunity to be involved with the design of many different sporting venues around the world.  As an intern architect for the firm he spent the majority of his time in the office working on the Golden State Warriors new 18,000 seat multi-purpose arena in San Francisco.  He also had the opportunity to contribute on the pursuits of other major sports facilities including an 11,000 seat multi-purpose arena in Barcelona, the Chargers & Raiders 80,000 seat joint-venture NFL stadium in Los Angeles, and a stadium + convention center for the Chargers in downtown San Diego.  These varying opportunities, canvasing nearly every stage of a project’s design process, have allowed Nick to polish his design skills and grasp a good understanding of what amounts to a successful design solution.  His extensive experience as an intern with the firm has allowed for a seamless transition into becoming a full-time employee.

As a full-time employee, Nick has also had an opportunity to be involved with the design and construction process of smaller, non-sporting venues.   One of which is a high-end cocktail bar located in Kansas City, Missouri.  The owner’s vision of the space required a high attention to detail, throughout every stage of the design process.  Nick’s efforts, along with that of many others, has helped the vision become a reality.  The experience gained, especially that of construction administration, has undoubtedly helped Nick become a more well-rounded designer.

Nick holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Kansas, where he graduated among the top of his class.  He has an unparalleled work ethic and continuously strives to go above and beyond what is required of him.  This earned him multiple collegiate awards at KU including the University of Kansas Undergraduate Research Symposium, Outstanding Presentation Award for his presentation of a third-year studio project and an invitation to present his fourth-year, comprehensive studio project to the AIA of Kansas Convention in Wichita, KS.  As a young professional, Nick continues this mindset, striving to exceed his Client’s expectations on a daily basis.
